Without being sentimental, I believe Jumia paid the ultimate price for other Nigeria eCommerce businesses. Jumia’s operation overtime in the eCommerce industry has made Nigeria citizens down to the common man to trust local eCommerce brands with their money and their ATM card details.
Most people are now aware that they can actually shop online and get the products delivered to their specified addresses. Thumbs Up to Jumia! People are more confident now buying things online than ever before.
Anyway that’s about Jumia’s success and what matters is how you can leverage their platform to make money for yourself.
This is the ultimate aim of this E-book. So read it completely and you will discover how to profit from Jumia even while asleep.

Unarguably, it will! Because I have personally used Jumia to sell most of my products and am still using them since its result oriented. So if you are serious minded and have a product to sell then pay maximum attention to the next section of this article that tackles the real deal.
Step-by-Step Guide To Become A Seller
Go to https://www.jumia.com.ng in your browser
Scroll down to the footer of the page and under the ‘Make Money With Us’ menu click on ‘Sell On Jumia or simply browse this link directly –https://www.jumia.com.ng/market-place/
Next, look carefully at the right hand side of the page and click on the ‘Become a Vendor’ link
Next, fill the marketplace registration form accordingly with the right details. Providing the right information is very paramount because it is based on the information provided that the marketplace management team will use to contact you.
Note: The Jumia marketplace sign up process is not automated. Meaning you don’t get an instant access to the platform immediately after filling the registration form. Your information will be verified and manually approved between 5-7 working days before you can start selling on the marketplace.
I can’t specifically tell you the exact time-frame it will take for the Jumia team to contact you but as mentioned above it takes 5-7 days to verify and approved your account.
Next, the Jumia team will send an email to you containing the contract documents where the contract terms and the commission rates are written. You are expected to read through, sign where necessary, scan and send back to them.
Next, You will be contacted by your assigned account manager from the Jumia team by email. Below is a sample template of the email you will receive from the account manager introducing him/herself to you.
At this point you are now a registered and verified seller on the Jumia marketplace.
The next step is to visit the Jumia Seller Center still online…
The Jumia seller center is a platform for verified sellers with the tools needed to manage your assortment on Jumia Nigeria, monitor and fulfill your orders. It’s a wonderful portal. It is from the seller center you will be able to add your products to the marketplace, process orders and withdraw your fund.
How To Add Your Products In The Marketplace
Go to https://sellercenter.jumia.com.ng
Next, login using your registered email and password.
The fact is the seller center has a lot of features but for the purpose of this article we will focus on adding products to be sold in the marketplace solely.
Below is a typical view of the Jumia seller center
Next, click on the ‘Products’ link and a drop down menu will appear for further navigation based on what you want to do. Just understand that the ‘Products’ is solely for products management. You can add, delete and edit a product.
So click on ‘Add a Product’
Next, click on the ‘Create a new Product’ link
Next, it will display a list of categories for you to choose were you product belong. I advise you to always submit your products under the right category so that whenever prospective buyers are searching for products based on category yours will also be listed. This cannot be over emphasized. And at different you alone know the category your products belong to.
I will base my illustration on the assumption that you are selling female clothes. Meaning you product is in the fashion category.
So you are required to click on the ‘Fashion’ category.
Next, it will list sub categories under ‘Fashion’ for you to systemically narrow your product. Since our assumption is based on women clothes you are expected to select the most related sub category.
Next, this is the second to final step in the categorization process. Is it Tops, Skirts, Underwear’s or Jeans and Jeggings? Guess you got it…
Next, select the last category that best describe your product and click on the select button.
Next, complete the product forms with all the relevant information about the product you want to add in the marketplace so that prospective buyers can be persuaded to order it. The first tab is ‘Main’, complete with the basic information about the product. Always specify your brand and you will have to contact your account manager to create your brand for you.
Next, click on the second tab titled ‘Other Details’
Next, scroll down and click on ‘Product Specification’
Next, click on the third tab ‘Product Pricing’
Under ‘Seller SKU’ – put in a particular code you want to assign to the product. Like for my smart mobile marketing course I wrote ‘SMMC1’ there.
Under ‘Quantity’ specify the quantity of that product you want to make available for shopping in the marketplace.
Under ‘price’ specify the amount you want to sell the product.
Next, Go to the next tab ‘Images’. This is where you upload the image/s you want to use to showcase the product in the Jumia store.
Next, when you are done filling all the necessary fields with the relevant information scroll down and click on the ‘Submit’ button
So this is how to basically create a seller account on the Jumia marketplace and how you can add your products to the store for mega sales leveraging Jumia’s traffic and audience generally.
Note: After you’ve successfully added a product to the marketplace it won’t start displaying at the storefront immediately. It will be subjected to a review after which it will be approved if all the information is correct or it will be rejected and the reason will be made known to you for correction.
Next, go to the ‘Products’ tab and click on ‘Manage Products’. Then you will see the list of your products while the ones approved will have a good sign under the visible column as shown below.
It is also from the manage product interface you will be using to manage everything about your products in the Jumia marketplace. You can edit an already approved product; you can delete and also monitor the quantity of products left in your store.
Conclusion
To see how your products are showing in the Jumia storefront simply clicks on any of the product title.
Also note that when you click on the title it will open the product page on the website and that is the link you can be using to promote the product on Jumia.
So you can personally send traffic to your product page using the link of the product on Jumia knowing fully well that people will easily place their order since it is in the Jumia store or even more comfortable buying the product using the Cash On Delivery option that Jumia offers.
